What yeshcube is

The hub integrates applied research, engineering, technology development and product design within a single working structure. These disciplines take part from the initial definition of each project, so that technical requirements, conditions of use and the constraints of the setting are incorporated during design and development.

Transfer starts from a line of research and results in technologies, systems or products designed for application and integration. The process combines hypothesis testing, experimental development, engineering decisions and evaluation in context. Knowledge thus becomes a technical solution that can be used, integrated and developed further.

The hub develops its own initiatives and takes part in joint projects with research groups, technology companies and organizations that provide a setting of application.

Wellbeing, health and care

Emotional wellbeing, factors related to mental health in non-clinical settings, stress regulation, rest and recovery. The research covers everyday habits, aging and the different stages of life, as well as care settings, with technological applications addressed both to the people using them and to the professionals and other parties involved in their care.

Work and organizations

Wellbeing at work, fatigue and recovery across the working day, focus and cognitive load. It covers the design of spaces and experiences in the organizational setting and the prevention and management of the burnout situations that affect working teams.

Performance, preparation and sport

Mental preparation, regulation under pressure and recovery in sport and in other demanding activities. The research covers cognitive training, fatigue management and decision-making under pressure, high load or limited time.

Childhood, learning and development

Creativity, imagination and storytelling as a route to learning and skill development. The research covers accessible, safe experiences designed without dependence on screens and oriented toward autonomy, interaction and active participation.

Voice, language and cultural diversity

Conversational artificial intelligence, voice synthesis and spoken interaction. The research addresses languages with little representation in the available technologies, the cultural adaptation of content, and language accessibility as a condition of technological inclusion.

Extreme and highly demanding settings

Isolation, confinement, long-duration missions, emergencies and operations under sustained demand, the aerospace field among them. The research covers interaction with systems under restricted conditions and the recovery processes of the people and teams operating in them.

Transfer takes shape as a product: a system, a device, an application or an experience.

A design criterion that runs throughout. It takes in understanding, physical, sensory and cognitive abilities, mode of interaction, language, setting of use and conditions of access.

Safety and ethics

Protecting people, their data and their autonomy sets the limit of how far a development goes.

How we work

The work is organized in phases that adjust to the kind of research, the technology involved and the intended setting of application.

Research

The problem is defined, the available knowledge is reviewed and the possibilities for technological application are analyzed. The research questions and the criteria for development come out of that.

Design

The results of the research are translated into product concepts, interaction systems and experiences of use, and the functional, technical and contextual requirements of the solution are established.

Develop

The concept is developed through the technical disciplines each project requires, among them engineering, artificial intelligence, industrial design, software and sound technologies. The process may include prototyping, integration, functional testing and evolution toward an operational solution.

Evaluate and evolve

The solution is evaluated in the intended setting of application. Technical results, conditions of use, identified limitations and the experience of the people using it are incorporated into subsequent iterations.

How the research takes shape

The knowledge generated in a line of research may materialize as technological architectures, systems, devices, applications, experiences or components that can be integrated into third-party products. The final form depends on the problem addressed, the technical requirements and the setting of application.

Each solution is tied to a line of work and evolves on the basis of technical results, the evidence obtained and the assessment of its use in context.

Development principles

Knowledge before claims

Decisions rest on the available knowledge and on the results of the testing carried out. Claims about a solution match what has been verified about it, and its limitations are part of the information published.

Accessibility by design

Accessibility is built in from the earliest decisions and is reviewed in each setting of use, taking in understanding, physical, sensory and cognitive abilities, mode of interaction, language and conditions of access.

Safety and privacy

Protecting people, their data and their autonomy is built into the architecture and the operation of the system. This criterion determines what information is collected, how it is handled and what controls apply during use.

Proportionate technology

Every technical capability must answer an identified need and a specific functional requirement. The design seeks to limit complexity, dependence and interaction load where they add no value to the aim of the solution.

Continuous review

Products, hypotheses and methods evolve with the available evidence, the results of use and the limitations identified.

A framework for assessing the maturity of evidence

Evidence Readiness Level, ERL, is the hub’s own methodology for ordering the maturity of the evidence behind a solution and the conditions under which it can be transferred. It takes in the evidence accumulated, safety, ethics, accessibility and use in a real setting.

ERL is a framework of yeshcube’s own and does not replace the certifications, approvals or external assessments that apply in each case.
