Article cover: What is Arena Program and how does it approach sports performance science?

Arena Program is yeshcube’s applied research line dedicated to human performance in elite sport. It studies how recovery, cognitive load, emotional regulation and mental preparation bear on training and competition. Its aim is to generate evidence about technologies and protocols that can contribute to sports performance while preserving the athlete’s health, autonomy and career continuity.

Why Arena Program exists

An athlete’s performance rests on physical condition and, at the same time, on rest, accumulated fatigue, sustained attention, decision-making and the emotional state in which each test is faced. A midfielder who plays well in a high-stakes match and falters the following week has rarely lost physical capacity in seven days. What has changed is sleep, mental load or the pressure of the calendar.

Contemporary sports science research studies these variables together. The International Olympic Committee consensus statement on mental health in elite athletes (Reardon et al., British Journal of Sports Medicine, 2019) holds that physical and mental health cannot be separated and that mental health symptoms affect performance and recovery from injury. From that follows the need to support the athlete throughout their career, not only on competition days.

Arena Program takes that perspective. It researches the conditions that allow performance to be sustained and the demands of elite sport to be recovered from, with one prior criterion: the fact that a technology is appealing or incorporates artificial intelligence does not prove that it improves anything. Every tool is evaluated before its use is proposed.

How it works: lines of research

The program is organized into three related areas.

Cognitive and emotional recovery studies the load that persists once the physical effort ends. After a two-legged tie or a competition decided on the last play, the body stops, but arousal and rumination can carry on for hours. Arena evaluates how to measure that load and which interventions make it easier to return to a state of rest.

Emotional regulation under pressure addresses the arousal, uncertainty and frustration typical of competition. A tennis player who regains control in the seconds after an error is working on exactly that capacity. The program researches technologies that help athletes recognize their state and apply regulation strategies, always in support of the work of sports psychology professionals.

Mental preparation deals with attention, clarity and emotional readiness before training or competing. These variables are part of performance, on a par with physical and technical preparation, and they are studied with that weight.

Psychological interventions can influence competitive performance, although their effects vary with the method, the discipline and the quality of the available studies. Each application therefore requires a specific evaluation before being put into practice.

Technology applied to elite performance

Arena Program researches the use of conversational technologies and sound experiences in recovery, emotional regulation and mental preparation. The technology works as an instrument of intervention and also of measurement. Its usefulness is established with defined variables, sound designs and interpretable results, regardless of whether it incorporates artificial intelligence, immersive sound or personalization.

The program fits into the structures that already support the athlete. Coaches, strength and conditioning staff, medical staff and sports psychology professionals keep their role, and any solution finds its place within that system of care and performance.

How it is applied at the hub

Arena Program has begun research into the use of Somia Bloom in elite sport. The work analyzes, under laboratory conditions, whether a guided sound experience produces measurable changes in cognitive recovery, emotional regulation and mental preparation.

The study is under way. Until it concludes, it cannot be claimed that Somia Bloom improves performance, reduces injuries or accelerates athletic recovery. Those conclusions depend on the results and on the soundness of the design used. Arena’s purpose is that a technological hypothesis be evaluated before it becomes a commercial promise.

Current status (2026)

In 2026 Arena Program is in a validation phase. Activity is concentrated on the laboratory study with Somia Bloom, still without conclusive results or solutions transferred at scale. yeshcube documents the maturity of each piece of research with the ERL scale (Evidence Readiness Level), which records a solution’s degree of evidence across six levels and prevents an experimental development from being presented as consolidated.

Sustainable performance and athlete health

In elite sport, an immediate improvement can carry physical or psychological costs in the medium term. Sustainable performance requires looking at sporting results together with their effects on health. The same International Olympic Committee consensus recommends evidence-based support systems, adapted to the sporting context and coordinated with qualified professionals.

Arena applies that criterion to technological development. A solution that improves a performance variable at the cost of increasing distress, reducing autonomy or interfering with specialist care is discarded, however good its numbers look.

From research to sporting practice

Arena’s findings can guide solutions for clubs, federations, talent development centers and sports science teams. That transfer is justified once it is known what effect an intervention produces, in which population and under what conditions. Arena Program provides the framework from which to answer those questions and decide which technologies add value to elite sport and which should be modified or withdrawn. The other active lines can be found in all research programs.

Frequently asked questions

What does Arena Program research?

Arena Program researches how recovery, cognitive load, emotional regulation and mental preparation bear on performance in elite sport, and which technologies and protocols can support it with evidence. It is yeshcube's line dedicated to elite sport.

Does Arena Program improve sports performance?

Arena Program describes what the evidence indicates and under what conditions, and avoids promises of results. It studies methodically whether particular technologies contribute to performance and recovery. Its research with Somia Bloom is still under way and does not yet allow any claim about effects on performance, injuries or recovery.

Who is Arena Program for?

For clubs, federations, talent development centers and sports science teams interested in evidence-based research. The program works alongside coaches, medical staff and sports psychology professionals, whose role it preserves.

What is Arena's relationship with Somia Bloom?

Somia Bloom is the AI spatial sound solution that Arena is evaluating in its laboratory study on recovery, emotional regulation and mental preparation in athletes. The evaluation is part of the program's research and does not constitute a claim about its efficacy.
