yeshcube joins DKV Impacta with Somia Niu

Somia Niu is yeshcube’s line dedicated to emotional support for children and families through experiences based on voice, sound and storytelling. The project has been selected as one of ten finalists in the fourth edition of DKV Impacta.
The selection brings Somia Niu into the first stage of the program, an acceleration process supported by the technical secretariat at Impact Hub Barcelona. This stage will allow the team to review the proposition, work on its impact model and prepare the next phases of development.
The call received around 250 applications and focuses on two priority areas: mental health and the health of vulnerable groups.
Selection for DKV Impacta
DKV Impacta is DKV Seguros’ social innovation program for impact startups and third-sector organizations working in health.
The fourth edition has selected ten projects for its first acceleration stage. The process considers their potential impact, stage of development and capacity to address health-related needs.
Somia Niu is participating in an edition focused on mental health and support for vulnerable groups. Its area of work is emotional support for children, with a dedicated line for neurodivergent children and their families.
The selected projects also include initiatives addressing psychological care for survivors of gender-based violence, emotional support for young people, assistance for people with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, women’s health, cognitive decline and psychosocial support during migration emergencies.
Acceleration and specialist support
The first stage of DKV Impacta provides training, specialist mentoring and access to Impact Hub Barcelona’s professional network.
The program covers areas including management, impact measurement, funding and communications. Each project can use this process to review its proposition, identify areas for improvement and prepare its development within the program.
For Somia Niu, this stage will support work on the service definition, application settings and indicators required to assess its contribution to children and families.
The team will also be able to review the model with external specialists in health, social innovation, entrepreneurship and impact.
Emotional support for children
Somia Niu develops experiences intended to help children practice recognizing their emotions and using different regulation strategies.
The proposition combines an application with experiences based on sound and voice-led stories. Children take part regularly in activities designed to help them identify what they are feeling and practice ways of regaining calm.
Families receive guidance to anticipate emotionally intense situations and support the child during those moments. The project approaches this work as an ongoing process integrated into everyday family life.
The objective is to develop resources suited to different ages, needs and family settings. Evaluation will need to examine ease of use, understanding of the experiences and changes in the indicators defined for each test.
Calm cabins in public spaces
Somia Niu includes autonomous calm cabins for settings where emotional or sensory overload may occur, such as hospitals, airports, shopping centers and cultural venues.
Families access the cabin from a mobile device using a QR code. Inside, the child takes part in a voice and sound experience within an acoustically isolated, screen-free space.
The cabins are designed to operate without permanent staff. The experience guides the family and child through a brief intervention intended to reduce environmental stimulation and support emotional regulation.
This resource forms part of a broader proposition. Ongoing support is provided through experiences used at home and resources designed for families.
Each installation will need to reflect the conditions of the setting, user age, accessibility requirements and the protocols established by the responsible organization.
Neurodivergent children
Somia Niu includes a workstream for children with different attention, communication, sensory-processing and emotional-regulation needs.
Development includes potential adaptations to the pace of experiences, duration, complexity of instructions, predictability of pathways and intensity of sound stimuli.
These versions will need to be assessed with children, families, professionals and specialist organizations. Requirements may vary by person and setting, so each configuration will require dedicated testing.
Accessibility, personalization and clarity of instructions form part of the project’s design criteria.
Technology and family participation
Somia is yeshcube’s artificial intelligence architecture, integrated into its own products and solutions and those developed by third parties.
Within Somia Niu, this architecture organizes voice and sound experiences, manages planned pathways and adapts interactions within the functions defined for each activity.
Families retain an active role throughout the process. Parents and carers receive resources to understand the experiences and support the child before, during or after emotionally intense situations.
Development incorporates privacy, transparency, adult supervision and content suitability for each developmental stage.
Project status
Selection for DKV Impacta opens an acceleration stage focused on maturing the proposition and preparing its development.
During the program, yeshcube will work on the service model, impact measurement, the proposition for families and organizations, and the conditions required for future tests and implementations.
The project will need to examine the home experience and the operation of cabins in public settings separately. Each format has different usage conditions, support requirements and indicators.
Subsequent phases will also need to assess accessibility, family acceptance, technical stability and the suitability of the experiences for different child profiles.
A new stage for Somia Niu
Participation in DKV Impacta connects Somia Niu with a program specializing in social innovation in health and with a network of external professionals.
This stage will help refine the project and prepare a proposition for family, healthcare, cultural and other public settings.
The selection represents a further step in the development of Somia Niu and its work across childhood, family support, mental health and neurodivergence.
